WOMEN AND ANGER

BLOGCAST SERIES ON THE SACRED FEMININE – 3

Women’s anger is still one of the greatest taboos of our modern culture, in relation to our health, wealth and happiness. We are allowed to be present at the table, supported in relationships, feel safe in the community, belong and be held in the family – so long as we keep a lid on our rage.

This has an immense negative effect particularly on our mental and emotional health, as we stuff down emotions that should be effortlessly allowed to rise and disperse.

Years and decades of this, and we become chronically under-energised: our vitality gets in the habit of just holding in, and our whole being begins to literally wind down for the end…

Why is our anger such a vital force in the world? What is not happening because women are not stamping their foot, raising their voice, expressing a non-negotiable NO? What is continuing to unfold, because we are not getting angry?

Apart from our own health and sense of self being severely undermined, our whole collective direction is compromised; women’s standing up for a world which isn’t based on unsustainable patriarchal abuses of power – this involves speaking emotionally and assertively in every area of Life.

A deep feminine voice unleashed, at the appropriate moment, in a humble and respectful way, and towards a situation that is malleable and ripe for change, can have immense transformative effect. It can halt rivers and change the direction of civilisations.

In contrast, that same voice, held back when it is being called for, leaves a void – where abusive power can continue to fill the space-between-all-things.

I have often felt that if we’re not angry about the state of the world, we’re not looking at it very deeply at all. In this podcast, I talk about how we can better use our anger as the alchemical force that it is supposed to be:

Please feel welcome to comment under this blog, about your own perspective and experience of anger.

Creativity and Birth: Divine Creative Flow

BLOGCAST SERIES ON THE SACRED FEMININE – 2

The Divine or Sacred Feminine seemed like a theme ‘out of my league’ as I begin this challenge, but entering the creative Flow with an anchor as profound as this couldn’t help but bring some magic to light!

I immediately realised that the divine feminine has been at the core of my whole life-work, healing, purpose… and so this series endeavours to use that very immersion to transmit some practical wisdom or insight into what The Divine Flow really is.

It is genuinely mystical, sometimes even miraculous, what happens when we step into the creative void, with a lightly-held anchor like this. We all have access to the Divine, we all are embodiment of powerful creative expansive forces; there is no-one on this Earth who isn’t an energetic manifestation in flesh, and who doesn’t have the capacity to align deeper and deeper with their inherent ability as a kind of cosmic alchemist.

Radiance, painting on wood, 2019

We can understand this mystical miraculousness, by looking at the creative act: both the engagement in artistic immersion, and the immersion of a human womb-an in the ecstatic flow of birthing a child. Both pull away veils from our relationship with divine creative flow. Both demand significant self-awareness (or peace within self), surrender, willingness to allow the unknown to unfold.

And both are examples of human consciousness in union with The Infinite – whether you name that as a deity, see it as pure field of intelligence, or whatever – a real, tangible, omni-and-ever-present magic in all of reality, that calls us to commune in it.

In the unfolding of this Divine Feminine conversation, I’m becoming more and more aware of the limitations (and/ or possible potential for misinterpretation) of the patriarchal, polemic language that is modern English. It can feel clunky to speak about mystical shit with little nuggets of truth (with a small ‘t’!) that only hint at it, and that can only be accessed by someone nearby Truth, who just needs a wee tweak to help them delve into it… This language that so many of us are using, wasn’t designed to promote harmony and peace, joy and illumination! (blogcast number 4 in this series will discuss language-and-the-deep-feminine further)

As ‘mystical alchemists’ in this place and time, we have to be careful to assure that each word, each spoken sentence, is aligned with our deeper sentience and whole-bodied knowing in each and every moment. It’s about all of us, always, moving more into Flow…

This is hard to do, when we have always more veils to pull away within ourselves, and ever-more areas of numbness to re-enliven… We might feel that we’re not ‘there’ yet, or that we have to be really good at doing this before we should really let it happen… But there’s a certain equilibrium of feeling, of trusting and letting ‘something’ flow through us (through our own inimitable uniqueness) – not any old thing flowing through; being skilled enough in our human being to hold the space for ‘something’ Divine, something mysterious, special, whole, pure, True – and to let it be us, our biodiverse intimacy of beingness. It’s all about tweaking, really!

The more we do this, enter into divine Flow, the more mastery we have of it. And slowly, our life becomes filled with Flow, and we radiate Flow, bring things into Flow, however we interact with all things.

what is the divine feminine?

Blogcast series on The Sacred Feminine – 1

It’s kind of absurd, kind of very metaphorical, that I haven’t yet delved deep into this conversation publicly: The Divine Feminine is THE theme at the core of my work, my life, my healing, my sense of life purpose and my optimism about the future of humankind on our planet and in the universe.

On the one hand, not speaking directly to the deep feminine is natural – at least in our normalised-numb-distracted-dissipated state the sacred feminine is absolutely intangible. The sacred feminine must be lived and felt from an awakened whole, and it must be free to move, grow and evolve – to fill the spaces between all things – to act always spontaneously and intuitively, and often unexpectedly.

On the other hand, there are deep, embodied reasons – real, remembered, present-day and archaic realities, which stop women talking about the divinity of their sacred sentient experience: persecution of the depths of the feminine is NOT a thing of the past – it is a terrifying modern-day force that has infiltrated even the minds of women to such a degree, that they will defend (literally) to the death the ‘necessity’ of their being manipulated and tortured, in terrible pain and suffering, and/ or numb and utterly disconnected – rather than there existing myriad choices for being healed to feeling and wholeness.

This too might sound kind of absurd and excessive, but we’re living in an age where the veils are being dramatically pulled away from both the evil origins of gynaecology, and the current violent practises against women’s bodies’ well-being by medical establishment. (If you’d like to hear more about this, look at e.g. Kim Anami’s blog, and The Bleeding Edge on Netflix.)

My genuine belief is that the sacred feminine is at the core of the world’s healing, it’s transformation, the very-necessary solutions for our collective harmony and even our continued existence: deep, wholistic sentience; embodied wisdom; empathy for all things; synchrony and interconnectedness; cooperation rather than destructive friction; very-long-term thinking, feeling and planning.

podcast on what is the divine feminine?

These are all aspects of reality that have been quelled and kept down, ridden-over by superficial logic, short-term profit, peak-pleasure, abundance and power for the few: traits of a toxic masculine-superiority model of ‘reality’, which is crumbling as we speak. Patriarchy is dissolving, having ridden everything into the ground as much as it possibly can be, and we’re beginning to consider what the world might look like if there a more balanced yin-yang.

We actually live in incredibly positive times: real change will always come from a shift in consciousness, and therefor it’ll grow-inspire-virally from the bottom upwards, rather than being forced on the masses by aggressive top-down control (as the last stewards of patriarchy are trying to promote via the hard-right politics of the ‘western’ world).

We are already entering a more empathetic, sustainable world-mind, even though it might seem like too little too late. But we were never going to change our collective direction, until we actually have to – and until there were viable, worthy, pleasurable options…. Once a woman understands the reason for her pain, occupies fully the power in her core, and awakens to the literally infinite transformative potential of her pleasure – there is no going back to the medieval mindset!

E.g. once women collectively begin to birth naturally, in tune with the orgasmic reflex that is built into our bioreality to expand our mystical conscious interconnectedness, we as humans will begin to be equipped to do our proper work in the world – without the violent oppression of our shared natural vitality and embodied super-wisdom.

Probably the biggest reason I didn’t delve into this profound discourse yet is that it simply wasn’t the time. And now it is.

Though it can be intensely challenging to be both sentient to the immensity of the world’s unnecessary pain and suffering – and to speak openly and vulnerably about it – there is a field opening for us all to connect through our sensitivity. We’re beginning to weave a harmonious, biodiverse collective fabric-of-minds, very different to the previous-current hierarchical structures of power struggle (which have kept us separate and thus in competition through the friction of that separation). Our expression of all of our pain (the pain of all of us) is a vital part of our weaving this fabric, as the feeling of the pain is a necessary part of our being connected and empathetic.

prayer for the new year

May this year be blessed for us

May these days and weeks bring us nourishment and peace

May we find quiet, meaningful moments – alone, together, and as a whole world

May we listen to our sentience, and act from our empathy

May our loads be lightened, always

May our hearts be opened by our looking for the good in others

May we see beyond the surface, and into the underlying beauty of all things

May we lessen our tightness around what we judge, and even let it be so, now and again

May we find time in reverence for the miracle of our own well-being: may we understand the profundity of our blessedness, in having a functioning body, mind, spirit

May we learn every day to live more elegantly and skilfully

May we hear the call to be loved, in those who we might have dismissed as unworthy

May we find our feet, and open our eyes

May we be supported by the universe to grow, to expand and fill the proper energetic field, the strong fabric, that we are meant to be

May all of our voices, colours, spectrums, dimensions, feeling – be heard, seen, felt, acknowledged, honoured

May our differences make up harmonious interbeingness, vibrant biodiversity as part of the immense whole that is this mystical universe

May our minds seek solutions with the enormity of all reality taken into consideration

And may we find great-glorious-ecstatic ways to complete our endeavours, to resolve our  conflicts, to bring into being our dreams, to birth and to raise new Life

How The **** Do I Know When A Thing Is Finished?!

In asking for feedback for The Divine Creative mentoring programme -“what do you feel holds you back from your deepest creative power?” – one of the repeated responses was ‘how the hell do I know when an artwork/ a project is finished?’

It’s a prevalent problem in our modern culture of over-stimulation and distractedness – finishing anything becomes so much more difficult than just having a wee peek at my feed/ stream, or beginning something new…

We’re perpetually revved-up on adrenaline and caffeine, sugar and screens, tension and empty-calories – so our brains becoming very habituated in that shallow, jumpy energy that is useful for beginning things… But it keeps on firing the starting gun, even when we should be slowing down, or resting.

The ability to finish things is a precise indicator of our spiritual well-being. A chronic problem with finishing might mean a deeper lack of alignment on various levels; our confidence, a disconnect between mind-body-emotions-spirit, the way we’re organising our lives (or not), our attitude to how we present ourselves to the world.

It might take a lot of unpacking, but looking at how we finish our work (or not) – just bringing our awareness to the ways we’re procrastinating, or holding back, or feeling afraid – this can reveal a great deal. And in this way, we can subtly and gently tweak ourselves towards completion, resolution, wholeness.

It’s not about a big dramatic push towards the finish-line, but a skilled, practised, intelligent movement towards refinement of a thing. This is more often than not a deeply intuitive and felt thing, rather than a logical path made from specific steps. It comes from the doing, not from the thinking about doing.

Why It Got To Be Canvas?!

a dismantled bread oven in rural Italy, waiting to be turned into art

Painting onto canvas can be an incredibly limiting presumption about our creativity, which we get caught in early on…

Using shop-bought materials for our art, particularly for surfaces is a form of colonisation of our immense creative potential. Myriad, meaningful surfaces are in fact all around us – and often freely available.

When we begin using materials that we find around us, we develop a solid foundation of relationship and depth of story within our work, which can be a missing link, when we use something prefabricated industrially.

Using found materials makes our work more unique, and more specific to our place and time. It might also make our work more relevant, more connected, more interconnected; give it a place in the world different from that of a image painted on a manufactured surface. http://www.claregalloway.com

It’s not about ‘good’ or ‘bad’, ‘right’ or ‘wrong’, but about the effect on the world, on multiple levels, that radiates outwards from our creating and creations. Listen to the podcast, to hear more

Making Space To Make

Sustaining a serious creative practise – or even getting started with one! – is an art. Several distinct pillars have to simultaneously be kept in place, inner and outer worlds need to be synchronised, and we need to prise a certain level of freedom from the condensed tightness of expected-conformity that surrounds us in the modern world.

Many creative folks get stuck before even beginning; “I don’t have the time, the space, the energy, the ideas, the enthusiasm…!” – or they run out of any/ all of these elements, over the years…

This is a podcast around how we can listen to the flow that is in all things – the harmony of divine creative intelligence – to understand how best to find our space, our creative liberty, the deepest purpose and meaning in our work and life.

It can seem impossible to prise the time and space to create, from our rushed consciousness. It’s getting easier and more ‘normal’ rather, to give in to the onslaught of superficial stimulation, global concerns, the sense that we are in a state of emergency… Art might feel like the last thing we should be doing, whilst forests are burning, ice caps melting, people killing each other…

However, there is profound meaning and purpose in removing ourselves from the conventional mindset (and behaviour), and in beginning to carve out space to make, time to ruminate, energy to express ourselves, focus to allow there to be flow. It is a revolutionary act to begin to harness and harvest our time much as we return to food-growing and reclaiming our capacity to live off the land – taking our focus away from consuming and from forcing things into being, and bringing it into the quiet magic of the underlying perfection of Life.

If you have a creative calling, it’s very likely that the universe (and other humans!) will support you in it. It’s not an accident that we’re born with such passions and callings that want to come through us, and daring to step into our time and space as sovereign, sacred, this is of the most powerful healing acts that we do in this world.

If you’re seriously struggling with this, however, I’m developing The Divine Creative mentoring programme, to help get you onto the aligned path with your gifts… See more via these pages.

How To Be Visible – As A Creator, At This Particular Time Of Year

In my earlier life as an artist, this time of year regularly brought out the ‘necessity’ of hustling: art fairs, pop-up shops, exhibitions, trying to gain visibility and traction for the buying season…

The internet has exacerbated our collective tension and acceleration into Christmas selling enormously… maybe we all felt that social media and automation must ease being seen and selling… but mostly it seems to mean overload and distraction on every possible level – and being seen in all of this means leaning in awfully heavily.

I’ve felt myself increasingly drawn in quite the contrary direction from the mainstream – and all the immense effort and strain has fallen away. My patrons and art clients now have a direct line to my creations, and new supporters are drawn without my having to lasso them!

I talk about my approach in this podcast:

As visual artists and creators, being visible should come effortlessly… If it doesn’t, if being visible is strenuous or unpleasant, then we’re probably just stuck in the wrong flow, and we need to re-navigate into a more harmonious one.

art censorship, and what you can do about it

Hallo beautiful human – welcome to my new blogcast!

My art was censored and I was blocked from mainstream social media earlier this year, so had an extended period of reflection on what this means – on why the human body is being routinely classified as pornographic and offensive, and removed from common parlance.

Here are some thoughts around what a serious issue we have, allowing the wholesale censorship of art depicting-human-likeness. Ultimately, having the nude human form (our innocent self!) removed entirely from visibility enormously affects our relationship with our bodies, our consciousness and will, our sense of identity and ability to express ourselves in the world, and most importantly, it disconnects us from our core creative power.

Censorship like this consequently supports our detachment from deeper truth, leaving us very much open to manipulation and addictions – hence the movement towards the majority of us being super-dependent on consistent superficial over-stimulation, on rushing-and-tension as baseline ‘normal’.

We can do a lot to change this – and to rejuvenate our collective values – in particular by supporting art and artists, who are at the edge of all things, making our human experience larger.

Please consider being a patron to the arts (e.g. through Patreon); please make artists more visible through liking, commenting on and sharing their work online; please speak out about censorship, or even contact the corporations who are censoring (Facebook and Instagram are major culprits); and please tell artists directly – and tell other people! – that you value their work.

For every artwork censored, for every artist blocked from the language of the everyday, the world becomes less colourfull, more superficial, less rich and magical… Think about that, and do something about it! http://www.claregalloway.com
